This month I have a special Valentines Day gift for you! A pattern for a practically no sew vest for Super Dollfie Size ball jointed dolls.
No need for a sewing machine. Our pretty vest will whip up in minutes and decorating is a snap!
This is dolls approximately 60 cm tall (23 inches), Modeling is my CP Lishe.
This vest should fit boys and girls.

List of materials:

  • Scissors
  • 1 or 2 rectangles of felt from the craft store
  • needle and thread - clear or color to match felt
  • assorted embellishment, buttons, hearts, chains, ribbons
lace, beads, whatever you have on hand, or wish to purchase
  • glue - you can use any fabric glue (Aylene's, Sobo, etc. even a hot/cold glue gun)
I have chosen felt because the edges do not fray, making it super easy to work with.
It is also very inexpensive and easy to find. It comes in a ton of colors.

Make a vest for every holiday!

1. Print out the pattern. (Instructions and full size pattern here.) A ruler is shown so you can make sure it prints out the correct size. After printing, measure the picture of the ruler. 1 inch..should equal 1 inch!
Cut out the 3 pattern pieces on black lines. (red lines are suggestions)
2. Lay the paper pieces on the felt. If you are careful, you should be able to make 1 vest from 1 piece of felt. If not, just use 2 pieces. Cut out felt pieces.
Black lines are cutting lines.
Dotted lines are sewing lines.
Red lines are variations you can try!

Experienced sewers can adapt this pattern to use any fabric. You will need to add seam allowances to the edges that do not have one currently.
note: on the pattern,
the red lines are suggestions for customizing vest bottom.
Use your imagination!
3. This is the sewing step. Lay the two front pieces on top of the back, matching the shoulders and the sides as shown in photo at left.

Using a simple running stitch, stitch in a straight line across each of the shoulders attaching front pieces to back. The repeat for the sides of the vest.
That is it!
That is all the sewing you have to do.

4. Turn your vest right side out. Now you are ready to have fun!
Dig through your craft supplies, your sewing drawers, jewelry box.
Raid your fabric and trim stash, yarn, ribbons, beads, baubles, buttons and bows. Everything is fair game!
I suggest you try the vest on before you glue, to check the placement of your designs.

Lay out your trinkets until you are happy with your design. Then glue them on!
If you feel comfortable sewing on your embellishments please do so.
It will make for a sturdies garment,
however, it isn't necessary.

This is a fun quick project
to dress your kids up for any holiday.
I found this very cool red fabric tape, with silver gromments, in the scrapbooking area of my craft store.
I also found an old chain in my jewelry box, lucky me!
To attach the chain I tacked the first link with a few stitches (or you can glue it) to the top of the vest.
I varied the length of a couple of rows of chain and tacked them to the vest.

To swing the chain to the other side of the vest
(and still be able to get the vest on and off!) I left the jewelry clasp on the end of the chain.
I looped a jump ring through the a button's holes (shown at right ).
The I glued the button on the top of the vest on the opposite side. I can then clip the chain to the jump ring in the button.
To finish, I glued on 3 puffy hearts and the plaid ribbon.

As you can see,
this vest looks so cute on Lishe.

She is all ready for
someone to be her
Valentine.
